'How I Paint' Series: Seraphon, Bastiladon

Painting Seraphon: Bastiladon

Bringing the filth!

So I am onto the Bastiladon now, lovely model to put together. Everything fits perfectly. I have built it with the Solar Engine (for gaming reasons).

I started with base coating the skin with Khorne Red and the Armour plates with Stegadon Scale Green.

I then drybrushed the belly with yellow and white scar so it gradually got lighter towards the middle.
The Armour was heavy dry brush with Loren Forest, then Skink Blue and Etherium blue towards the tips and white scar to pick out the markings.

Onto the glazes, I glazed the belly with 75/25 mix of Fire Bright Dragon and Mephiston Red and the Armour with Caliban Green, the tips with Yriel Yellow. But as you can see this needed to be blended better.

The next stages were all pretty easy and were done within 2 hours, Standard way of painting Gold (Retributor Gold, Reikland, Necron), The Skinks were painted in the same way as the Skink Startpriest and the Crystal in the same way as the base crystals (Altdorf Blue, Etherium dry brush and Blue Glaze mixed with 'ardcoat).

'How I Paint' Series: Seraphon, Saurus Knights

Painting Seraphon: Saurus Knights

Finally got round to painting these. I have kept the green style of the Saurus which guide to paint can be found in previous post on Saurus Warriors. The Cold Ones guide is below.

I went with Celestial Spears, i like the idea of mortal wounds on the charge.

As described in the colours of Seraphon post, I am going for this look eventually.

I based their scales in Khorne Red

Drybrushed with Averland Sunset.

Then I based the skin with Rakarth Flesh.

I then washed the skin with Agrax, and drybrushed with Wrack White, and also drybrushed the scales with FireBright Orange.

I based the saddle with Rhinox, the strapping with Zandri and Claws with Eshin Grey. I washed with Agrax and Nuln.

I painted the Eyes Blue and collar Gold with a Fleshshade wash.

I then started on the bases.

Next up were the riders, these are the same scheme as the previous Saurus Warriors which can be found in earlier post. But here are some WiP pics.

'How I Paint' Series: Seraphon, Skink Star Priest

Painting Seraphon: Skink Star Priest

I love this little guy. I also loved the look of the GW painting scheme, so I changed my mind on what colours to paint my skinks. I went for the standard Blue in the end.

I based in Stegadon Scale Green and pre drybrushed with an all over Averland Sunset and lighter Etherium Blue. I then focused on the belly with Skink Blue and the Scales and light focus dry brush of White Scar.

I then glazed the skin with Temple Guard Blue and the Scales with Macragge Blue. The feathers were based with Khorne Red and drybrushed with White Scar.

Next up, the feathers. These were glazed with Mephiston Red, Averland Sunset and Moot Green and layered in (Kind of)

And finally, the Gold was standard, Retributor, Fleshshade and Necron drybrush.
Based in the same way as rest of army and done!

'How I Paint' Series: Seraphon, Saurus Warriors

Painting Seraphon: Saurus Warriors

From the Colours of Seraphon post, I decided to paint the Saurus in a Komodo Dragon style colour scheme. I was very dubious at first as I haven't seen any sort of tutorials on this. But now they are done, I'm glad I did. I went for a under dry brush and glaze over painting technique (which is now my favourite technique).

But first of course, undercoat Black.

I then base coated them all in Stegadon Green

I then done an all over dry brush of Straken Green

Followed by a lighter dry brush of Etherium Blue and a final focused dry brush of White Scar.

I then used Caliban Green and added lots of drops of water to make a glaze to paint the bellies and skin. The scales were painted with a glaze mix of Death World Forest.

I then dry brushed the scales with Origi Green.

The teeth and claws were painted with Zandri Dust base, Agrax wash and Ushabti Bone layer.

The Gold was Retributor Armour and Fleshshade. And the shields were under dry brushed, then glazed with Mephiston Red and over dry brushed with Wild Rider.

Next stage was the base them, which i done in same way as the OldBlood

So here they are!
