'How I Paint' Series: Chaos Dreadhold, Overlord Bastion

Today I bring you a mighty terrain piece, the Overlord Bastion.

This is first in a long series of How I paint terrain articles, some will be showing you how to paint up Games Workshop terrain, some will be other manufacturers and some will be scratch builds.

This thing firstly is huge and nearly broke me, I still have another Skull Keep and a Malificant Gate to paint up to, but here is How I done it.

I first undercoated the whole piece in Chaos Black

I used Russ Grey to dry brush all of the stonework.

I painted the stairs in Karak stone, then washed them with Agrax Earthshade.

I drybrushed over this with Terminatus Stone

I painted the large gargoyle faces with Gorthor Brown, Washed with Agrax and Drybrushed with Terminatus Stone.

I painted in the Gold details with Retributor armour. (this is the bit that will break your soul and stab you till you bleed, leaving you cursing to the Gods themselves!)

I washed the Gold with Agrax Earthshade

I then drybrused the Skulls all over the Bastion with Ushabti Bone

I drybrushed all the Gold with Stormhost Silver.

I painted the large spikes with Leadbelchers, washed with Nuln Oil, applied Typhus Corrosion to the lower parts, Ryza rust dry brush and finally a Stormhost Silver dry brush to finish it off.

Whole model...

I finished it off by applying Blood for the Blood God to all the places where the monstrosity stabbed me along the way.
